New York, NY
The Annual Coordinators' Conference was created to strengthen the communication within our far-reaching community. It has proven to an important event that fosters collaborations among our participating institutions and is a vehicle through which strategies and successes are shared. Our conference titled "Striving for Excellence 15 Years of Commitment, Innovation, and Success" was no different. The keynote address was given by Brown University President Dr. Ruth J. Simmons. President Emeritus, Harvard University, Neil Rudenstine spoke about the absence of minority faculty in academia and NAACP Legal Defense Fund Associate Director and Counsel Theodore M. Shaw spoke of the then pending University of Michigan cases and the decisions' ramifications on higher education.
