Graduate Programs

Predoctoral Grants

Graduate students at the early stages of the PhD are eligible for the Pre-doctoral Research Grant, administered by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC). This award is dispersed in five separate time/progress related installments, totaling $5,000 over the early years of graduate study. Funds may be used to cover research expenses such as books, data collection, computer time and hardware, travel associated with research, printing and reproduction costs. See contact information below.

Annual Graduate Student and Post-Doctoral Conference

The SSRC-Mellon Mays Summer Conferences provide an outstanding opportunity for the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and collaborations. The conferences assist in the transition from undergraduate to graduate school to faculty status, and provide opportunities for graduate students and new faculty to come together as a scholarly community. The conferences provide a forum for MMUF students to network and share their scholarship, and they create a venue for participants to address critical issues in higher education.

Social Science Research Council (SSRC)

The SSRC administers the annual graduate student conference and pre-doctoral grants for Mellon Fellows.
