Brown University invites applications for an Associate Dean of the College for Undergraduate Research.

The Office of the Dean of the College seeks a dynamic and collaborative candidate who will provide innovative leadership for Brown’s Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program (MMUF) and Undergraduate Teaching and Research Awards (UTRA) Program, while also serving as a general academic advisor in the College, in support of Brown’s open curriculum. 

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the Curriculum, the successful candidate will chair the MMUF and UTRA Program committees, recruit faculty and student participants to both Programs, plan and host events that help develop a community of scholars and researchers, and collaborate with others on activities that promote undergraduate research. Responsibilities include significant outreach to faculty and students, budget oversight, and program evaluation and assessment.

Job qualifications:

Earned doctoral degree and research experience required.
Experience teaching and advising undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated success in collaborative interactions with faculty, students, and staff.
Experience as a program administrator with responsibility for budget, planning, and assessment is highly desirable.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, discretion, sound judgment, and leadership skills are essential.
