June 21 - July 29, 2022

The University of California at Los Angeles will again host its annual Mellon Mays Writing and Research Training Program from June 21 to July 29, 2022. COVID conditions permitting, the event will take place in person. Below are further details about the program from UCLA MMUF coordinators Whitney Arnold and Muriel McClendon:

We invite your MMUF students to participate in UCLA's summer 2022 Mellon Mays Writing and Research Training Program. The program runs 6 weeks (Tuesday, June 21 – Friday, July 29, 2022). Fellows participate in a rigorous scholarly writing and research course (receiving UCLA course credit), individual and group mentoring sessions, workshops, events, and a final research colloquium. Following UCLA guidelines, we are currently planning to hold the program in person on campus, and we will be in touch if guidelines change.

NOTE: Please note the updated dates for the program, as UCLA adjusted its summer research programs move-in dates in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday. Students will move in on Tuesday, June 21.

Applications: Applications are due March 15, 2022. (Note: we have this deadline in order to meet UCLA summer housing deadlines, but we can still accept later applications and admit students as space is available.)

Cost: $2,000.

UCLA Covid-19 vaccination requirements: In compliance with campus guidelines, all student summer research program participants need to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus before they will be allowed on campus or in a facility or office. Individuals will be required to show proof of vaccination, and students who have been eligible for a booster for a month or more should upload proof. Compliance with the policy will be required two weeks before students are expected to be on campus for the fall term. For information about Covid-19 policies and restrictions on campus, please visit the UCLA Covid-19 resources website: https://covid-19.ucla.edu/. Please be aware that acceptance to all UCLA summer research programs is conditional based on proof of vaccination and booster.
