MMUF PhD François Pierre-Louis interviewed in NYT article on Trump

October 24, 2016

MMUF PhD François Pierre-Louis (who until recently was also coordinator for the MMUF program at Queens College) was recently interviewed by the New York Times for an article on the reactions of immigrants from nondemocratic countries to Donald Trump's recent refusal to commit himself to accepting the results of the U.S. presidential election. François, who was selected as an MMUF fellow as an undergraduate at Queens College, holds a PhD in political science from the City University of New York Graduate Center and is a tenured professor of political science at Queens College - a fact that the article does not mention. Rather, François is interviewed in the capacity of a Haitian immigrant with family members who were killed by the Duvalier regime; he notes that Trump's suggestion that he will not honor the election results "unless I win" is reminiscent of the election-contesting practices of some third-world countries.
